The dangerous and congested Hallam Road level crossing will be removed by building a rail bridge over Hallam Road and a new modern station.

Extensive site investigations and engineering assessments have found the rail bridge design is the best way to remove the level crossing.

A new elevated station will be built at Hallam, with modern facilities for the 2,200 passengers who use the station each day, and improved pedestrian and cycling connections around the station precinct.

Early works on the Hallam level crossing are expected to start in 2020, with the level crossing to be removed in 2022.

  • You need to have a walkway which crosses over Hallam road to the station instead of using the lights to cross the road. There is hundreds of people who cross the road from the bus stop or from the station back to the bus stop which causes traffic nightmares in peek periods in the afternoon. This would be a simple solution which would ease traffic and also make it safer for pedestrians

  • Hi, Will there be a pedestrian overpass as well to allow pedestrians to connect with buses? The pedestrian lights that allow passengers to cross Hallam rd also cause a considerable delay to traffic. I have heard feedback from other successful crossovers that the only positive traffic imrovement wold have been to remove the pedestrian traffic lights.
